Stick cutlasses into the pirate's barrel until he eventually pops out, up and away in this fun family game

Not so much 'walk the plank' as 'evacuate the barrel!' The little pirate character rests peaceably as players insert their cutlasses one by one. Eventually a cutlass hits the hidden switch, causing the pirate to leap out of the barrel. The switch trigger assumes a different position each time the game is reset.

Good fun.
My 6- and 8-year-olds love this, we've played it several times together.

On one occasion the pirate failed to pop up, to the children's delight - they felt they'd beaten it! But mostly it works just fine.

It's definitely going in my list of games to take on holiday, we usually stay in a caravan and fun games which take up very little space like this one make the evenings far more enjoyable.

The cutlasses don't look very robust so we're being quite gentle when playing, but there are no stress marks appearing on the plastic so I might just be being over-cautious.

Bargain price but quality slightly lacking
Bought this as a stocking filler for my daughter (aged 4) - is a good replica of the original game but the swords aren't always very easy to slot in fully and as it is so much smaller it is tricky for younger kids to do it without ""holding the pirate into the barrel"". All in all, I'd still say it was good value for £3 but would recommend slightly older kids would be better suited to it.
